Monster FireProof Technology Keeps You Safe

Would you use a surge protector in your home if you knew it could catch fire? In the event of a surge, excess energy is absorbed by a component called an MOV (Metal Oxide Varistor). The excess energy is then dissipated as heat. The problem is that with ordinary surge suppressors, that heat can cause sparks and eventually a fire that can quickly spread in your home or office. With Monster FireProof MOV surge protectors, the MOV is encased in ceramic to contain the excess heat, making your first line of defense against home electrical fires. Why risk it?

All the Connectivity Options You Need

Featuring AC outlets for AV equipment or computers, plus 3.4A USB ports for ultra-fast charging of mobile devices, the Black Platinum range has plenty of connection options for all your gadgets and gear.

A More Reliable Streaming & Gaming Experience

The included Powerline Communication adapter means existing AC power lines can be used to provide a reliable and strong Internet Connection. Sit back and enjoy a better streaming and gaming experience.

  • Q:

3240 Joules of protection means it can resist 3240 Watts?
    Asked on 9/14/2016 by Alex

    1 answer

3240 Joules means that it can absorb 3240 Joules of surge energy. That's like 3200W for 1 second or 64,000 Watts for 50 milliSeconds, which is more relevant for surge protection

  • Q:

What is the point for the Ethernet port in a surge protector? What are some practical uses?
Asked on 8/27/2015 by Confused Customer who bought this from Los Angeles, CA

    1 answer

The Ethernet port is for Power Line Communication, PLC for short. Ethernet connectivity using existing AC power lines provides a reliable Internet connection. If you're looking to share a wired connection in another room of your house the included adapter provides a solution. This would be used in place of wireless connectivity or running a long Ethernet cable.

  • Q:

can this be used with 240v/ 50hz. ?
Asked on 8/8/2015 by Marsha from Lawndale, Ca.

    1 answer

The PowerCenter in question was designed to be used in North America only where the power is 120volts/60hz. It will not work on 220-240v outlets. Also, it is not recommended to use these with a step-down transformer.
