Important Monster® Performance and Safety Tips
Listen Responsibly

To avoid hearing damage, make sure that the volume on your music player is turned down before connecting your headphones. After placing headphones in your ears, gradually turn up the volume until you reach a comfortable listening level.

Noise levels are measured in decibels (dB), exposure to any noise at or above 85 dB can cause gradual hearing loss.

Monitor your use; hearing loss is a function of loudness versus time. The louder it is, the less time you can be exposed to it. The softer it is, the more time you can listen to it. Refer to the chart* below.

This decibel (dB) table compares some common sounds and shows how they rank in potential harm to hearing.
SoundNoise Level (dB)Effect
Whisper30Very quiet
Quiet Office50-60Comfortable hearing levels are under 60 dB
Vacuum Cleaner, Hair Dryer70Intrusive; interferes with telephone conversations
Food Blender85-9085 dB is the level at which hearing damage (8 hrs.) begins
Garbage Truck, Cement Mixer100No more than 15 minutes of unprotected exposure recommended for sounds between 90-100 dB
Power Saw, Drill/Jackhammer110Regular exposure to sound over 100 dB of more than 1 minute risks permanent hearing loss
Rock Concerts (varies)110-140Threshold of pain begins around 125dB
"....a typical person can safely listen to an iPod for 4.6 hours per day at 70% volume."
"....knowing the levels one is listening to music at, and for how long is extremely important."

Get the most out of your equipment and enjoy great audio performance even at safe levels.
Our headphones will allow you to hear more details at lower volume levels than ever before.

Use Responsibly

Do not use headphones when it's unsafe to do so - while operating a vehicle, crossing streets, or during any activity or in an environment where your full attention to your surroundings is required.

It's dangerous to drive while wearing headphones, and in many places, illegal because it decreases your chances of hearing life-saving sounds outside of your vehicle, such as another car's horn and emergency vehicle sirens.

Please avoid wearing your headphones while driving. Use one of Monster's FM transmitters to listen to your mobile media devices instead.

Learn how to establish a safe listening level and review other important safety guidelines from the Consumer Electronics Association at www.ce.org and the Deafness Research Foundation at www.drf.org.

Comments about Monster® DNA In-Ear Headphones with ControlTalk™ Universal - Multilingual:

I had these for about 4 months before they broke. In the four months leading up to them breaking they were really perfect - incredible sound quality, and sleek design.

I use my headphones for my commute to work, while running and at the gym (3-5 x / week), and at the office listening to music occasionally. So they get a fair amount of use, but nothing excessive.

The left headset went out first - I could jiggle the cable around and intermittently get the sound back, but 80% of the time there was just no sound. And then a week later the right headset went out too.

It's a shame because before that I'd say they were the best headset I've ever used. I also used them for phonecalls, and the microphone worked really well for that too

One other minor criticism is that the controls for on/off is right next to the volume up/down keys. So often when trying to adjust the volume, it would pause my playlist, which was a bit annoying.

It was so good, I was so impressed. However, after only about three months, the sound became distorted...I'm quite protective of my headphones too. This should not have happened, after spending so much money!

Comments about Monster® DNA In-Ear Headphones with ControlTalk™ Universal - Multilingual:

These in-ear headphones would be fine at a price point of around 50 dollars. Monster relies on their brand name not the quality of their products. I thought that the break from beats audio would produce a better product. I was wrong.

I use my Monster DNA Headphones daily since I received them for Christmas. they deliver great noise cancelation on the bus or in windy or noisy situations. I find their audio quality Great, especially for acoustic audio songs, or re-listening to pre-recorded videos or audio. I was greatly surprised when I saw that the DNA headphones came with a stylish and effective traveling pouch. Unlike most headphones, they never got tangled upon removing them from the pouch. over a great product.

Earphone wires doesn't tangle. Good fit in ears. Clip a little awkward to get onto wires but works ok after getting onto wire (clip to right ear wire). Sound is very good. Usually use in one ear while walking or at work listening to audiobook to block out noise. When both earbuds are in, blocks noise out very well. Inline controls easy to use (no fiddling to figure out on/pause and volume up/down). Construction feels pretty solid compared to other earbuds I had.
