J Mascis

J MascisJ Mascis founded Dinosaur Jr. in 1983 while he was still in high school. He's widely credited with returning lead guitar to indie rock. The band is currently going through something of a rebirth, thanks to a late spring 2006 UK/European tour and Rhino Records reissuing the classic Dinosaur Jr. albums Green Mind and Where You Been on May 16th, each with bonus tracks. Rhino also has in the pipeline a CD of a 1993 show at the legendary Manhattan punk rock club CBGBs, during which J made his first solo acoustic performance.

Dinosaur Jr.'s early 1980s records on SST foreshadowed the grunge sound that would emerge from Seattle eight years later from Nirvana. Their influence lives on.

Famous Monster Mascis digs the sound he gets with Prolink Interconnects and Instrument cables when he's on the road and in the studio. His setup, tucked away in the hills of Western Massachusetts, is rigged with plenty of Monster, from the Multi Channel Snakes, StudioLink"_500 Patchbay cable, Studio Pro"_1000 Mic Cables, and of course, Studio Pro 1000 and SP500 Guitar Cable for his axe. Known as "Bob's Place," this studio is where he recorded his outstanding album, More Light.
