      • CUSTOMER CARE

        A:

        * IMPORTANT: DO NOT attempt to clean the eartips without first removing them from your headphones. Getting the delicate circuitry inside your headphones wet may cause permanent damage.

        1. Firmly grip the eartip with one hand and the earphone with the other. Carefully remove the eartip from the eartube.
        2. Use warm water and mild soap on a damp cloth to remove dirt and earwax from the eartip. DO NOT use harsh cleaning agents.
        3. Rinse and completely dry your eartips before placing them back on your headphones.
        4. Carefully push the eartips back onto your headphones, making sure they are on the eartube completely.

Important Monster® Performance and Safety Tips
    Listen Responsibly

To avoid hearing damage, make sure that the volume on your music player is turned down before connecting your headphones. After placing headphones in your ears, gradually turn up the volume until you reach a comfortable listening level.

Noise levels are measured in decibels (dB), exposure to any noise at or above 85 dB can cause gradual hearing loss.

Monitor your use; hearing loss is a function of loudness versus time. The louder it is, the less time you can be exposed to it. The softer it is, the more time you can listen to it. Refer to the chart* below.

This decibel (dB) table compares some common sounds and shows how they rank in potential harm to hearing.
    SoundNoise Level (dB)Effect
    Whisper30Very quiet
Quiet Office50-60Comfortable hearing levels are under 60 dB
Vacuum Cleaner, Hair Dryer70Intrusive; interferes with telephone conversations
Food Blender85-9085 dB is the level at which hearing damage (8 hrs.) begins
Garbage Truck, Cement Mixer100No more than 15 minutes of unprotected exposure recommended for sounds between 90-100 dB
Power Saw, Drill/Jackhammer110Regular exposure to sound over 100 dB of more than 1 minute risks permanent hearing loss
Rock Concerts (varies)110-140Threshold of pain begins around 125dB
"....a typical person can safely listen to an iPod for 4.6 hours per day at 70% volume."
"....knowing the levels one is listening to music at, and for how long is extremely important."

    Use Responsibly

Do not use headphones when it's unsafe to do so - while operating a vehicle, crossing streets, or during any activity or in an environment where your full attention to your surroundings is required.

It's dangerous to drive while wearing headphones, and in many places, illegal because it decreases your chances of hearing life-saving sounds outside of your vehicle, such as another car's horn and emergency vehicle sirens.

Please avoid wearing your headphones while driving. Use one of Monster's FM transmitters to listen to your mobile media devices instead.

Comments about Monster® Miles Davis Trumpet High Performance In-Ear Headphones with ControlTalk™:

First thing i have to say is wow the sound is very clear and crisp. The high and mids are excellent and the bass is ok. Depending on how well your fitting is the bass can change as well as the high and mids. Key is to find the right fit.

The only complaint i have is that the side that has the controller is heavy so it tends to pull out of the ear. Perhaps putting the controller on the main line will balance the weight pull. Otherwise the sound is just incrediable and you can hear sounds that you may have not noticed before. Best headphones i ever bought. I have the klipsch s4 which is a good headphone but this is better.

I've tried just about every in ear there is, and these are by far the best I've ever had! with the gel filled bell tips it practically eliminates all ambient noise! The bass is tight and full, and the highs are crisp and clean! I've had mine for about 6 months now and the cord is still in good shape no kinks wobbles or dents, and I use them practically everyday! They're very stylish and I get compliments on them all the time. I highly recommend them for anyone who loves music!

Comments about Monster® Miles Davis Trumpet High Performance In-Ear Headphones with ControlTalk™:

I cross-shopped these against similarly rated in-ear, noise isolating earphones on CNET. I found that they fit perfectly with the smallest tips in my ears. Sonically, they are at least as good as I've heard from other in-ear headphones (I don't claim to be an audiophile). The value for me is very high, which was less than half of retail due to a special sale when I bought them. I also enjoy the weight of the earpiece itself, and the musically-themed control stalk is a fashionable, if not blingie, touch.

I question the longevity of the areas where the ribbon cable terminates, especially near the gold plated terminal and black rubber boot. Additionally, the 90 degree angle for the jack forced me to trim off some rubber surround from my rugged iPhone 4 case - no worries for me as the phone and case are being retired soon, but beware of this general fitment potential issue with ruggedized cases for smartphones and such.

All in all, I give it 5 out of 5 stars, which is rare for me. After years and patience, I just feel happy that I've found my permanent in-ear headphone solution and hope that they last for a long time.

Comments about Monster® Miles Davis Trumpet High Performance In-Ear Headphones with ControlTalk™:

I found the Miles Davis TRUMPET headphones to be unforgivably precise - and the best sounding headphones I own.
They have the same 'revealing' characteristics as the electrostatic speakers in my home stereo. For my tastes, the musical quality is superb. Before listening to them for the first time, I found the pair of SuperTips that provided a snug, comfortable fit.

Not everyone likes 'accurate' speakers & headphones. Many prefer a sound that's heavier on the bass side, has emphasis on the highs, or a combination of both. If your tastes lean this way, you might not like these initially. But spend a little time listening to some well recorded music, and you might just find yourself wanting more.

I felt these headphones had the following characteristics:

        - Tight bass. These headphones don't have heavy or emphasized bass. This minimizes bass coloration. Psychoacoustically, too much bass can mask (overpower) the mids and highs, reducing clarity and detail. The bass, however, is deep and impressive. On some of my favorite songs by Eric Clapton, Dire Straits and John Mayer, I thought to myself "Wow!".

        - Accurate mids - perfect on the best recordings, bright on recordings with too much 'phat' (where the quieter portions of the music are artificially made louder to keep the volume level consistent - reducing the natural dynamic range).

        - Clean highs - chimes and triangles 'sparkle', saxophones 'breathe', trumpets 'shine', guitars and violins have 'texture', and vocals have 'presence'. This is the area where these headphones really seem to differentiate themselves. While listening to some modern and classic Jazz and Classical music recordings, I got goose bumps - the instruments and quality of the music was that realistic. One such recording is "For Duke - Bill Berry and his Ellington All-Stars" (M&K label). Others include Miles Davis (of course!), Dave Brubeck, Bill Evans Trio, Stan Getz, Cal Tjader, Lionel Hampton, The Romeros, and James Taylor.

When I first opened the stylish box these came in, I said "Uh-oh". I was concerned that they were going to be nicely styled, but average sounding headphones. This is not the case. I thoroughly enjoy these headphones.
